Obama stills deep-water bits
US President Barack Obama said he will stop drilling on 33 deep-water projects that are currently under way in the US Gulf of Mexico.
The move is part of a package of moves Obama announced a press briefing today that included canceling lease sales in the Gulf and Virginia, and stopping planned development projects offshore Alaska.
Obama did not offer further detail on his plan to halt deep-water drilling or give a deadline for operators to prepare to halt their drilling operations

In addition, Obama said he would extend a moratorium on drilling permits in the Gulf for six months; it had been scheduled to expire at the end of the month.
